Joshua Redman Graduated summa cum laude from Harvard in 1991 with a degree in social studies. He had been accepted to Yale Law School, but held off for a bit, moving to New York City to live and make music with his father, acclaimed saxophonist Dewey Redman, plus talents like Brad Mehldau, Peter Bernstein, Roy Hargrove, Christian McBride, Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden Billy Higgins and more.
Later in 1991, he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. His first record as a leader two years later led to his first Grammy nomination.
Joshua Redman’s career has been on an upward trajectory ever since. He returns to Pittsburgh, February 15.
