Makaya McCraven opens the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival June 20
Drummer, producer and sonic collagist Makaya McCraven studied under Archie Shepp, Marion Brown and Yusef Lateef, and then to the Chicago scene. He has created a jazz-informed musical concept which takes technology and improvisation and creates something altogether new.
