Listening and Looking back to Season 32 - the MCG Jazz Spotlight Hour - Friday & Sunday nights at 6
Friday night and Sunday night at 6 on WZUM, Marty Ashby, VP & Executive Producer of MCG Jazz and Renée J. Govanucci, Director, MCG Jazz, savor sounds of season 32, which had a first-time appearance by Bobby McFerrin, a return from Kurt Elling and some amazing musical pairings, including Alfredo Rodriguez & Pedrito Martinez.
The vocal side of things included the supergroup Take 6, a tribute to Joe Williams from Keith David, and newcomer Veronica Swift, a singer from a musical family (her father was the late pianist Hod O’Brien, her mother, vocalist and educator Stephanie Nakasian).
We round out the show with pianist Fred Hersch and his trio and the soulful Booker T Jones.
A well seasoned season! Friday night and Sunday night at 6 on WZUM, the Pittsburgh Jazz Channel!
