Days of Future Jazz - October on the Scene
The Jazz Scene in Pittsburgh is keeping busy after a cautious, enthusiastic restart in July, August and September.
In October, more activity features Pittsburgh artists, national and international performers coming to perform, and a great number of performers with Pittsburgh connections coming back to visit and play. There are so many great performances ahead, you’ll need Jazz Central to keep track!
At MCG Jazz - vocalists Ann Hampton Calloway and Tierney Sutton have two shows on October 16th in Manchester.
Also that night - October 16th at 9 - A Homecoming of sorts for - for adopted saxophone star Erik Lawrence - joined by his sister, vocalist Marya Lawrence.
Guitarist Marty Ashby presents a tribute to Claudio Roditti featuring trumpeter Dr James Moore - Thursday, October 14th at Con Alma, Ellsworth.
Also on the 14th, vocalist Allan Harris is back to Pittsburgh with his New York Band to visit Con Alma, Downtown.
Deanna Witkowski has a trio performance at Alphabet City on Sunday, October 17th, and week later, joined by a choir for Mary Lou Williams’ Mass on October 24th.
Meanwhile, vocalist Aimée Allen - (from the south hills - these days in NYC) - Comes back to Pittsburgh at Alphabet City - Sunday the 24th
Also - vocalist Kurt Elling - Greer Cabaret - on the 26th - and a couple of hundred total events on the jazz side of things in our region during October!
