Visions of 2020 Jazz for the MCG Jazz Season
Tune in to WZUM Friday and Sunday night at 6, Saturday at one to Marty Ashby, Executive Producer of MCG Jazz and Renée J. Govanucci, Director, MCG Jazz, for a preview of what is to come for the second half of Season 33 MCG Jazz.
A first-time-ever at MCG Jazz appearance by Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be a notable highlight.
Meanwhile, Bob Mintzer, who has a marvelous big band, will return with the dynamic and forward-focused band the Yellowjackets back to perform
Singers are well represented, including 2020 Grammy nominee Cecile McLorin Salvant, plus Ann Hampton-Calloway and Tierney Sutton, who will celebrate songs from the movies. Also, pianist and vocalist Patricia Barber will perform on a double bill with pianist Kenny Werner.
Frank Vignola and Pierre Bensusan will deliver a double dose of great guitars in March - we hear cuts from them, too.
The 2020 part of season 33 is coming into clear vision for MCG Jazz - catch an audio peek on the MCG Jazz Spotlight Hour on WZUM, the Pittsburgh Jazz Channel!
