The New Pat Metheny Release, Richie Goods Returns, Mark Winkler Shares Bobby Troup Stories, and more on the Scene
There’s a new Pat Metheny CD that was just revealed last Friday - we have a couple of tracks to share, including a beautiful ballad with strings.
Vanessa Rubin will be in Pittsburgh for Kente Arts at the New Hazlett Theater, April 4 - we hear a super song from her - and also from Pittsburgh’s Richie Goods’s new CD - the globetrotting bassist will be joining Ms. Rubin in April.
Also - sounds from Chico Freeman - just announced as a headliner for June’s Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival.
We also chatted with vocalist and songwriter Mark Winkler at the Jazz Congress in New York in January - Mark Winkler has been a singer of songs for many years. He’s been a major champion of pianist, singer and songwriter Bobby Troup - and has been working with vocalist Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer, too.
The Pittsburgh jazz scene continues to be filled with many local combinations of entertainment and creativity - more than 235 during February - and spring will have even more!
The Scene - Thursdays at 6pm, Friday at Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 5pm on WZUM.
