Holiday sounds and a Joe Negri tribute - the Pittsburgh Jazz Scene
We work our way into the holidays with a lot of music from Pittsburgh artists - and especially guitar great Dr. Joe Negri.
This month, Pittsburgh’s handyman guitarist Joe Negri was honored by Duquesne University with the naming of the Joe Negri Guitar Legends Studio. This legendary Pittsburgh guitarist has also helped bring many other guitar legends to visit during his many decades of teaching and performing.
Joe also recorded a great Christmas Jazz CD, which we play some of on the show.
Also enjoy sounds from Kenny Blake, Mark Strickland and Tony DePaolis, Tania Grubbs, the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, Johnny Costa, Sean Jones, Maureen Budway, Rev. Tony Salvatori and the Manhattan Brass Choir, and visitor to Pittsburgh this week with the PSO Pops, Tamir Hendelman.
The Scene - Thursdays at 6pm, Friday at Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 5pm on WZUM.
