Through this very special one-hour set, we explore how jazz is represented in every corner of the world and has brought musicians from distant lands together. In this set, we see collaborations between musicians from the U.S. and Russia, Japan and Colombia, France and Cuba, and several other unique combinations. On this International Jazz Day, we celebrate the universal language of music, in which anyone can become fluent. This music unifies us and allows us to express parts of our culture, our own personal experiences, beliefs, and emotions with the rest of the world. This week, we celebrate all those who use this music to encourage a message of peace, joy, harmony, and solidarity.
The MCG Jazz Spotlight show airs on Friday and Sunday at 6pm and Saturday at 1pm on The Pittsburgh Jazz Channel WZUM.
