October continues to rollout with more great music on the Pittsburgh scene - including a weekend Festival in Homestead Grays Bridge celebrating three notable natives.

We visit with Maryellen Deckard about the Homestead Harambee and Jazz and Blues Festival on the weekend of October 7-9, 2022 under the Homestead Grays Bridge. The three day event will highlight the music and stories of 3 creative women from Homestead, too - vocalists Maxine Sullivan, Betty Davis and singer and actress Tamara Tunie.

The festivities start around noon (or a bit earlier) Friday, Saturday and Sunday - and will include a wide variety of performances as well as presentations and venders.

Also this weekend in October - guitarist Pierre Bensusan brings his broad palette of guitar sounds to MCG Jazz in Manchester, Saturday night (Oct 7) for two shows.

Brazilian guitarist Diego Figueredo visits Casa Brasil in Highland Park for an 8pm show.

Monday October 10th, BPEP Jazz returns to the ballroom at the Heinz History Center in the Strip with Roger Humphries and the RH Factor and the Tim Stevens Project at the helm with some 70 jazz stars on call for a evening of jazz in support of political empowerment.

We’ll also take a listen to South Hills Native Aimee Allen - she’s got new release just out with François Mouton, Kush Abadey and more.
