New on the Scene Recordings Louis Armstrong and George Benson Discoveries and more on the Scene
This summer, there’s a lot of live jazz to enjoy in Pittsburgh - check out the Jazz Central Calendar!
On WZUM, we have also had a lot of new recorded music to share - over a hundred new releases in just the past few months - including some lost gems that only now are getting the light of day and the ears to hear.
That includes Pittsburgh’s George Benson - with a project with the Robert Farnon Orchestra from 1989 - some beautifully singing, playing and arranging that was lost for decades. It is just being released, now - and we’ll play a bit of it - and next week we plan to share a visit with George with you on WZUM.
Also - a newly discovered recording by Louis Armstrong - Louis in London from 1968. It was a powerful recording of the jazz innovator just as he was getting newfound attention and hit records, yet again.
