Boney James chats, Sachal Vasandani sings at Fallingwater, Jazz and Wine in West Virginia and more! Thursday at 6, Sunday at 5
Thursday night at 6, repeated Sunday at 5 on “THE SCENE” on WZUM - we visit with saxophonist Boney James, performing Friday, September 13 at the Byham Theater.
Boney James talks about his long career, and how streaming audio is giving some of his recordings some new attention. We also hear (and play) music of Boney with Pittsburgh native George Benson, and a session done as a tribute to George Duke by Al Jarreau.
Nat King Cole and Frank Lloyd Wright were not, to our knowledge, acquainted, but their art will be converging on Sunday, September 15th at Fallingwater with vocalist Sachal Vasandani and the MCG Jazz Orchestra - we’ll ponder that and play music related to it, too.
Jazz Central shows more than 230 jazz and jazz-related events in the Pittsburgh area for September! Check it out online, and become a part of it by dropping by, if you can.
The West Virginia Wine and Jazz Festival returns to Morgantown September 21-22 with a great assemblage of performers at Camp Muffly
The 15th annual Jazz Poetry month at City of Asylum is off to a big start, with a broad array of Jazz artists and poets from America and around the world at Alphabet City / City of Asylum through out September (and a little bit into October!).
All on the radio on WZUM!
