A celebration of one of Pittsburgh’s greatest jazz musicians, Mary Lou Williams, who grew up in East Liberty and went on to found the Pittsburgh jazz festival.
A convert to Catholicism, she composed many hymns and works of sacred music—including a jazz Mass. PGH Christian Studies will host a performance-lecture at the auditorium in Bellefield Hall, University of Pittsburgh, December 1 at 7 p.m.
