The show takes place during Oglebay Institute’s Festival of Trees and Holiday Art Show and Sale. Doors open at 6:30pm and remain open until 11pm. Come early and stay late to browse and shop before and after the concert.
Jenny Wilson is a composer, pianist, flutist and vocalist. Originally from Queens, New York, Jenny is a graduate of WVU’s Master of Music Jazz Pedagogy program and has toured in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Her main compositional influences are Thelonius Monk and Wayne Shorter. Her piano style is informed by Bill Evans and her connection to his music is also reflected in that like Jenny, Bill was also fine flutist.
Bassist Nathan Wilson is Jenny’s husband and also performs with the Squonk Opera from Pittsburgh, PA. Nathan recently performed at the REACH Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and is busy doing recording, mixing and sound reinforcement for festivals in West Virginia, PA and Maryland.
Saxophonist Curtis E. Johnson is a member of the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra and is an instructor at WV Wesleyan and Carnegie Mellon University.
The 100-year-old Edemar Mansion (now known as the Stifel Fine Arts Center) is the former home of one of Wheeling’s most prominent families and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
