CAPA Jazz Ensembles at Alphabet City/City of Asylum, North Side. An evening of jazz featuring two of Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School’s top ensembles: The CAPA Jazz Orchestra and CAPA Jazz Ensemble

CAPA Jazz Orchestra: Director, Paul Thompson
Under the direction of Mr. Paul Thompson, this unique group hosts a range of instruments from strings to percussion including horns and electric instruments. Mr. Thompson personally arranges each piece specific to the group. The ensemble’s pieces cross genres and includes compositions from Chick Corea, Snarky Puppy, and others.

CAPA Jazz Ensemble: Director, Rick Matt
Under the direction of Mr. Rick Matt, this ensemble is a more traditional big band-style jazz band. Their repertoire features diverse jazz standards from artist’s such as Stan Kenton, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Parker and many more. This group has come into their own with tight ensemble playing and collective improvisation.
