A memorial celebration / fundraising event at The Afro-American Music Institute to celebrate the life of iconic Pittsburgh Jazz Radio host, Ronald “Butch” Perkins, who passed away earlier this year. The event will included a Memorial Jazz Jam Session and Art Exhibition of Teenie Harris Photographs from Butch Perkins’ personal collection that he donated to AAMI.
Butch requested to be remembered by giving to AAMI. This Jam session and fundraiser will be a heartfelt and musical tribute to a man who was committed to jazz and Pittsburgh.
Performers will include the founders and executive directors of the Afro American Music Institute (AAMI), Dr. James Johnson and his wife, Pamela, a special guest appearance by Jazz Drummer Greg Humphries, and many other special guests. Drummer Tom Wendt will be the Musical Director for the evening. MC’s for the event will be jazz radio hosts Chuck Leavens and Bob Studebaker.
