Pitt Jazz Presents “Give the Drummer Some,” a three-day event featuring Roger Humphries, James Johnson III. These are Online Events - Pitt is closed to the general public
On Friday, November 5, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., the Jazz Program will celebrate the new Martin Shor Fund for jazz students. The event will showcase performances by Pitt student ensembles including; AFROPOP, led by saxophonist Ben Barson, a jazz combo led by Dr. Yoko Suzuki, and the Pitt Jazz Ensemble, directed by Ralph Guzzi and Dr. Yoko Suzuki. The ensembles will perform works by drum composers and works highlighting the drum set. The concert will be streamed live from Bellefield Hall Auditorium to the Department of Music’s YouTube page, Music at Pitt.
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., the Jazz Program will host the culminating concert, “Drum Conversation,” featuring drummers Roger Humphries and James Johnson III in duo. The event will be streamed live from Bellefield Hall Auditorium to the Department of Music’s YouTube page, Music at Pitt.
Because of COVID constraints, Pitt remains closed to the public. Limited in-person attendance for Pitt students, faculty and staff is available. Registration is free and required. Online streaming will be available for the general public. Registration and livestream links will be available on the website jazz.pitt.edu.
