The Hot Club Jazz: In-person. Feat Louis Armstrong
The Hot Club is jazz listening sessions shared on 78rpm records—the oldest and rarest records that capture truly high quality sound. The goal of these sessions is to make the beauty of classic jazz recordings available to all, to hear lesser known work from great musicians, and share your thoughts with fellow listeners in real time. It’s a book club for jazz fans.
In July, The Hot Club moves in-person—to the Sampsonia Way Tent - And features a deep dive into the life and work of Louis Armstrong.
Louis Armstrong is famous for many things, but rarely does he receive due credit for changing everything about music: the way we sing, the way we phrase, and the creation of swing. Armstrong even created the very essence of solo oriented jazz performance. Join pre-eminent Hot Club leader Tom Roberts to learn how Armstrong, an illegitimate child from the poorest and most dangerous neighborhood in the deep- south, rose above poverty and prejudice to become America’s Ambassador of Goodwill.
