Hugo Cruz and Caminos - Voice of the Drums at Kingfly Spirits, Strip District with special guests from the Cuban music traditions
Hugo Cruz and Caminos will feature four guest musicians from Cuba, while on tour throughout the U.S. The group will perform mostly Cuban Jazz and popular Cuban music.
There will be a $10 cover to support Live Music Programming.
About the Musicians:
Degnis Bofill - Percussion
Degnis Bofill is a Cuban percussionist, vocalist, and composer based in Havana. Degnis is a tremendous player, well versed in an array of Latin percussion instruments and a connoisseur of Cuban’s unique rhythmic tradition. A vastly experienced performer, he has toured the world, performing alongside Arturo O’Farrill, Orlando Valle “Maraca”, Néstor Torres, Bobby Carcassés, Dave Weckl, Blondie and Roberto Fonseca.
Lino Dariel - Bass
Lino Dariel is a professional bassist from Havana, Cuba, who graduated from the National School of Arts in 2015. He has performed in concerts and recordings with many renowned Cuban musicians, including Frank Fernández, Cesar López, Omara Portuondo, and Alain Perez.
Ramses Rodrigues - Drum set
Cuban-born drummer Ramses Rodriguez, now based in Los Angeles, has performed with American and world artists David Sanchez, Roy Hargrove, Joe Lovano, Gilles Peterson, Fatoumata Diawara, Regina Carter, Anat Cohen, Mayra Andrade, among others.
Yadasny José Portillo - Keyboard
José Portillo's extensive music career includes performances with Acosta (Tocororo Fabula Cubana), Amos Lora (España), Sexto Sentido, Bobby Carcasses, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Anais Abreu, Nestor Torres, Brian Lynch, Eva Ayllon, Andrea Motis, Samy Thiebault, Polito Ibañez, Jorge Reyes, Luis Carbonell, Enrique Lazaga y Enrique, Omara Portuondo and more.
