WZUM is a Media Sponsor for the 2023 Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit
Location: Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
The historic Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit is in its 25th year of gathering the Pittsburgh community around conversations of racial justice. This year we look back and ask: how far have we come in the fight for racial justice in the past 25 years?
This one -and-a-half day conference, includes our opening keynote the evening of Friday, January 20th, and goes into a full day of workshops, presentations, panels, and wellness sessions the next morning that will take us into an evening of reflection and unity.
The Summit’s goal is to underscore the necessity and importance of critically re-evaluating our respective histories, specifically the impact of white supremacy and how it has caused widespread dehumanization and exploitation throughout global and local history. Workshops and panels will confront historical and current racial issues, including social, economic, political, immigration, and environmental justice.
Registration proceeds are used to cover the cost of hosting the Summit and for the Jonny Gammage Scholarship Fund which is awarded to law students of color with an interest in studying civil rights and social justice issues at the University of Pittsburgh Law School or Duquesne University Law School.
