Thursday night at 6, at noon on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday at 5 - insightful conversation and great music with two jazz notables who live in New York, but with Pittsburgh on the itinerary.
First, we talk with saxophonist and educator Antonio Hart, who brings his Sextet to the New Hazlett Theater for Kente Arts on December 7th. Antonio Hart has worked with a legion of jazz notables, from trumpeter Roy Hargrove to Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Heath, James Moody, Dee Dee Bridgewater and many more.
We hear some of Antonio’s music - and hear how he ALMOST became an Art Blakey Jazz Messenger.
We also revisit our chat with pianist, composer and author Deanna Witkowski, who just finished up a two months stay in Pittsburgh, performing and also researching a new book on legendary jazz artist with Pittsburgh roots, Mary Lou Williams
Tune in Thursday at 6, Friday and Saturday at noon and Sunday night at 5 - the Scene on WZUM with Scott Hanley
