Thursday night from 6 until midnight, special programming with music from the premier Jazz Ensemble of the US Air Force, the Airmen of Note, with special guests, drummer Pete Erskine, vocalist Nnenna Freelon and trombonist Marshal Gilkes.
We will also share music and conversation with pianist Shamie Royston, who’s coming to Pittsburgh Tuesday night at the Greer Cabaret with her quintet. Shamie comes from a musical family, including her sister, saxophonist Tia Fuller. In a special connection Pittsburgher’s will appreciate, Shamie credits pianist, composer and educator Geri Allen as the leading reason she plays jazz piano, today.
