Tune in to WZUM Friday and Sunday night at 6, Saturday at one as brothers Marty Ashby, Executive Producer of MCG Jazz and trombonist Jay Ashby share music and memories of the great Brazilian trumpeter and performer Claudio Roditi, who died January 17, 2020 at age 73.

A great influence on both the Ashby brothers, on MCG Jazz and on Pittsburgh for many years, Claudio Roditi’s music legacy has many Pittsburgh connections, too.

Marty and Jay first met Claudio when they were both students at Ithaca College and he was a guest with the college’s big band in the 1980’s.

Hear recordings made at MCG Jazz, along with other Roditi records that include Paquito D'Rivera, Ralph Moore, the Metropole Orchestra, and the remarkable Unterbiberger Hofmusik w/ Claudio & Jay.

Also, music from the new MCG Jazz recording that is airing all over the nation, DIVA and the Boys.
