Tapping a Jazz Message - on the Scene

Tap Dancer Sarah Reich has a new Jazz CD.

Sara Reich is also coming to Pittsburgh for four shows at the Greer Cabaret, January 16-18th. We talked with her about her dance and musical journey, and how closely connected jazz and tap are. She’s been active with the Post-Modern Jukebox as well as her own band.

We also give a sneak preview of the Jazz Congress at Jazz at Lincoln Center - we were at the first-ever gathering in January of 2018 when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gave the first-ever keynote, and share some of it this week.

Also, sounds from Kenny Blake, Salsamba! and Cecile McClorin Salvant and Nicole Mitchell, all performing on the Pittsburgh scene in the coming weeks.

And a sneak preview of the new CD from vocalist Tania Grubbs, Live at Maureen's Jazz Cellar.

The Scene - Thursdays at 6pm, Friday at Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 5pm on WZUM.
