The Fall 2020 - Season 34 in the MCG Jazz Spotlight

The MCG Jazz Spotlight shines on season 34 - the roaring 2020’s of jazz for Pittsburgh - with a sampler of what’s in store.

Some return visits by longstanding favorites, and new projects, too. Marty Ashby and Renée Govanucci lift the curtain on The Queen’s Cartoonists, plus a new holiday show by the Hot Sardines.

Also, a tribute to Ray Charles with Tom Scott, Nnenna Freelon and Take 6; the Django Festival All-Stars, rhythmic magic from Poncho Sanchez, a new tour with Kirk Whalum an Keiko Matsui, plus a visit to Ellingtons reworking of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” with bassist John Clayton and the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra.

The plan is ahead for fall 2020 on the MCG Jazz Spotlight on WZUM - Friday and Sunday nights at 6, Saturday afternoons at 1.
