A visit with Byron Stripling and Tamir Hendelman, the PSO Pops - and remembering Barry Harris

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Pops has two weekends of holiday seasons music starting December 10th and running through the 19th at Heinz Hall.

The Highmark Holiday Pops will feature the symphony, great vocalists and a wonderful jazz quartet, helmed by trumpeter and PSO Pops Principal Conductor Byron Stripling and featuring renowned pianist Tamir Hendelman. We speak with Byron and Tamir, and hear some of their music.

We also talk about the recent passing of pianist and educator Barry Harris. He died this week, just short of his 92nd birthday. An enduring pianist and teacher, his influence with resonate on with generations for players and listeners.

Plus - more seasonal sounds, including the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, playing at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, December 22nd, featuring Sean Jones.

The Scene - Thursdays at 6pm, Friday at Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 5pm on WZUM.
