We first aired this in May of 2020 - and now, back for a reprise with Benny Benack, III with Jazz Inspired.
(WZUM also visited with Benny in January 2020, just BEFORE the lockdown) - you can listen to that at this link - https://www.wzum.org/jazz-blog/2020/1/30/thescene- )
Pittsburgh native Benny Benack III is a trumpeter, vocalist and a good keyboard artist, too! His new album “A Lot of Living To Do” is getting great reviews, and he’s clamoring to get back on the road with sounds from it, as well as with the Post Modern Jukebox.
This weekend, WZUM shares his visit with pianist, singer and host Judy Carmichael on Jazz Inspired.
From Judy, “Luckily we recorded this a couple of weeks before we all isolated. We're pictured here in what we laughing called the ‘jazz musician uniform’ when we realized we were dressed the same!”
Sunday at noon, Monday at 10am on WZUM
If you miss it on the air, you can check it out at Judy’s site - https://www.jazzinspired.com/browse-shows/benny-benack-iii?fbclid=IwAR2XgpL6uGCQDjEtXP0scNucrGke4L-8rqj7Vz6SMnOLxXAA1YOj5s7WL9M
Benny Benack III’s musical family roots in Pittsburgh are a big part of the conversation - here’s a treat from Mister Rogers with Joe Negri and Benny Benack, Sr!
