Theron Brown, City Theatre and the Pittsburgh / Detroit Jazz Connection in the MCG Jazz Spotlight

MCG Jazz and City Theatre are collaborating for the upcoming Pittsburgh premiere of the jazz inspired play Paradise Blue with a new score written by Theron Brown, opening to previews on the South Side March 12.

In preparation for that show, pianist and composer Theron Brown will present a special, free concert at MCG Jazz on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7pm.

Theron Brown currently resides in Akron, Ohio, where he is the program coordinator for Curated Storefront and the Artist Residency Program at Lebron James’ I Promise School. Theron is also heavily involved in the music community as the founder and artistic director of the Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival, which takes place annually in Akron, Ohio’s downtown historic district. Theron performs and tours regularly with his trio that includes Zaire Darden on drums and Jordan McBride on bass.

Theron has also appeared as a young Herbie Hancock in the 2016 film, Miles Ahead, directed by and starring Don Cheadle.
