Summer to Fall on the Scene WZUM

We are passing the midpoint of a very busy August on the Pittsburgh Scene - and we lend an eye toward what’s coming into September - most of it still officially “Summer” until the equinox - but there’s autumn in the air.

The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival is just around the corner - 4 action packed days September 14 through the 17th at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center - concerts, the the “Taste of Jazz” and two days at Highmark Stadium on the Southside. Recent additions included pianist Bob James and his quartet - Bob James just shared a brand new release with us we can share with you on the show.

Highlights will include Kurt Elling, Gregory Porter, Orrin Evans, Chelsea Baratz and much more. Orrin Evans even has a jazz train experience from New York and Philadelphia on the agenda!

On the radar at the end of the month - Kenny Garrett in for the WV Wine and Jazz Festival in Morgantown and the season opener for MCG Jazz with pianist and vocalist Eliane Elias

Summer still holding it’s own - with the Highline (Anqwenique Wednesday August 23), Jazz at the Reservoir, Highland Park (Aurora Jazz Fusion, August 20, and Reggie Watkins with the Steeltown Horns AND the Norside Organ Trio) and much much more to find at the Jazz Central Calendar!
