Where You Are

Bishop Ivy introduced himself as an alternative-pop songwriter with 2019's All Things Temporary, an innovative record that mixed organic instruments with digital sounds, field recordings, electronica influences, and samples. He sharpens that sound with 2020's LIMBO, whose five songs are rooted not only in pop hooks, but also sonically-adventurous production and lyrics about post-Millennial issues like romance, the rigors of academia, the challenges of looming adulthood, and the demands of the modern world. Co-produced by Ivy and released during his first year as a college student, LIMBO combines the lushly synthesized soundscapes and electronic elements of modern pop music with the heavy pulse of hip-hop. The result is a sound that's both representative of the streaming generation (where genres are often blurred) and emblematic of Ivy's own life, chronicling his transition from teenage prodigy to young adult.
