Art Blakey’s 100th - 1958’s Moanin’ for a $120 gift

The Jazz Renaissance is happening in Pittsburgh, and WZUM is delighted to be a part of it. WZUM’s Jazz Central service now regularly shares more than 200 jazz events every month!

For the moment, though, we need to pay the bills - and build an even stronger and deeper base of support for the future of jazz on Public Radio from and for the Steel City. A Fund Drive to Finish 2019 with a goal of $50,000.

We have special thank you gifts, too - celebrating Pittsburgh Jazz Legends with a new book from MCG Jazz called Spirit to Spirit, the classic album MOANIN’ from Pittsburgh native Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, as we celebrate his 100th birthday, Also, the Lighthouse Arts project, “The Past is the Present,” with great, new recordings of established Pittsburgh jazz artists, “torchbearers” who have kept the sounds vibrant, and new “young lions” blazing a musical trail.

WZUM programming for Pittsburgh has taken on a new energy - with special sounds and guests in the MCG Jazz Spotlight, to our check on the pulse of the Scene. More special programs are on the way, too!
