Chuck talks about his early years in upstate New York, including the band with his brother, Gap Mangione, which made a visit back in the late 50’s to Pittsburgh’s Crawford Grille.
Stories of jazz greats in the Mangione living room in New York, enjoying a family dinner of spaghetti, Chuck being recruited before he left high school by Pittsburgh’s Art Blakey - and later leaving the Eastman School of Music to Join the Jazz Messengers with a roster in the mid-60’s that included bassist Reggie Workman and pianist Keith Jarrett.
