Saxophonist, composer and arranger Bob Mintzer is well known for his work with the band the Yellowjackets, as well as the Bob Mintzer Big Band.
The Yellowjackets return for a show at MCG Jazz, September 24th and 25th.
Bob Mintzer is also the chief conductor of the WDR Big Band in Cologne Germany - which has a new release out on MCGJazz Records.
This week’s radio show features Bob Mintzer as guest host, joining MCG Jazz’s Marty Ashby to talk about and play music from this newest project, “Soundscapes.”
We also share sounds and stories from other Bob Mintzer projects with MCG Jazz, including music with the New York Voices, vocalist Kurt Elling and a special session that brought the Yellowjackets to the studio to add in extra sounds to a new arrangement of a Yellowjackets tune.
