Famed Record Producer Creed Taylor died in August at age 93, leaving behind an influential catalog of work, including releases on Bethlehem, ABC-Paramount, Impulse, Verve, A&M records and his own CTI label.
From the 1950’s until 2010, he worked with notable jazz innovators and creators. Stan Getz, John Coltrane, Bob James, Chris Connor, Charles Mingus, Wes Montgomery, George Benson and many more. His work with Jobim and other Brazilian Jazz artists was among the most powerful changes in jazz in the early sixties - followed then by landmark recordings by John Coltrane .. and the list goes on.
Marty Ashby shares a sliver of the recordings Taylor oversaw - and shares stories from Creed Taylor, himself.
