Remembering Creed Taylor in the MCG Jazz Spotlight

Starting in the 1950’s, famed record producer Creed Taylor worked with notable jazz innovators and creators, including Stan Getz, John Coltrane, Bob James, Chris Connor, Charles Mingus, Wes Montgomery, George Benson and many more.

Creed Taylor’s work with Jobim and other Brazilian Jazz artists was among the most powerful changes in jazz in the early sixties - followed then by landmark recordings by John Coltrane and much more. He left behind an influential catalog of work, including releases on Bethlehem, ABC-Paramount, Impulse, Verve, A&M records and his own CTI label.

Marty Ashby shares a sliver of the recordings Taylor oversaw - and shares stories from Creed Taylor, himself.

Creed Taylor in the Spotlight on MCG Jazz - Friday and Sunday nights at 6, Saturday at 1pm.
