This week’s episode of the Scene nearly plays itself - Jazz Appreciation Month rolls on, including notable concerts with Sean Jones, a piano-star rich tribute to Ahmad Jamal from Kente Arts.
This weekend also has a visit from pianist Paul Giallorenzo and his trio from Chicago, a Duke Ellington Celebration and nearly a dozen things to be a part of in person on Saturday, alone!
Next week brings vocalist Marya Lawrence back to town with her brother, Erik Lawrence for a tribute to the musical influence of Nat King Cole - Tuesday at the Greer Cabaret Theater.
Also, next week on May 1st, the return of Jazz Poetry Month with the trio Thumbscrew, with Mary Halvorson - guitar, Michael Formanek - bass and Tomas Fujiwara - drums along with notable poets from around the world.
